LAN Events

Here’s a bunch of general information about our LAN event. You can find more specific information in the info bar along the top of the page.
Event Information
We’re hosting a LAN event in RCH 307 from 10am until midnight on Saturday March 20th. Everyone is welcome. For those that don’t know what a LAN party is, it’s essentially an organized gathering of computer game players, and we’ll all play together in one room. You get the advantage of having a fast connection speed to the other players, and instead of yelling at them over the internet you can just walk up to them and yell instead! If you like PC games, you should come by.
We ran a very successful event last term, with over 50 people at peak attendance levels. The event this term is going to be very similar, we expect all sorts of games to be running all day.
Pre-registration
For us to get an idea of attendance, it’s very important that you pre-register if you plan on coming. Knowing which games are the most popular is very important for ad-hoc tournaments, and for hosting dedicated servers.

Desktop computers
We know the university is probably pretty far away from you, and if you plan on bringing a desktop that could be a bit of a pain. If you have access to a car, you can get it driven right up next to RCH. You’ll only have to worry about unhooking your PC this way. See the location page for more information.
If you don’t have access to a car or wouldn’t mind bringing extra people in your car, you can check out the ride share planning topic on our forums. Bringing your desktop to campus isn’t the easiest thing.
Food
As we’re in RCH, we are fairly close to the university plaza. You can get someone to watch your stuff and head over there with some people to eat.
We will also be providing pizza and pop around lunch time (and probably also dinner time). We’re only attempting to break even on the food, so don’t worry about it being too expensive. You can expect to pay around a dollar for a slice of pizza, and around 50 cents for a pop.
Help out
If you’d like to help us out, the short version is bring extra equipment, and help us plan in the planning topic on our forums. For the longer version, check out this page.
