Team Fortress 2 Night #1

As was brought up at the end of our meeting, we never really went over how to get set up with our TF2 nights. There’s a thread on our forums all about it.

Starts at 9pm, every Monday.

The easiest way to get up and running is to join our Steam Group here: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/UWGamers

From there, we do most of our organization through the steam group on the night of. On the community page there’s a “Enter chatroom” link, but you can also get to it through your Steam Friends list by clicking Join Chat. From there we’ll pick a public server and play some TF2. If you have a friend that’s participating you can probably just join through them.

David Wang (desire) is planning on streaming the TF2 night here: http://david-wang.ca/stream
It may be entertaining if you have nothing better to do.

New member information

It’s a brand new Fall term, so I’m sure there are a few newish people around. This post is supposed to be a super-brief thing that will link you to various UWGamers resources.

The first thing is that our membership is very no obligation. You’re a member if you consider yourself a member. We have a bunch of ways of communicating which are all outlined below.

We’ve got this front page which has an RSS feed
Social Media things echo our posts, via Facebook and via Twitter

We have a Steam group, LAN event notices are cross posted there. We have TF2 nights most terms, it’s looking like they will be at 9PM on Mondays this term. You’ll find event notifications there.

Most of our planning is done on our forums. We’ll have a meeting schedule and everything shortly, but in the meantime the vast majority of the planning will be over there. If you ~really~ want to get involved with the club, the forums are a good place to get yourself started.

Finally we have a mailing list that you can sign up for to learn about our events + meetings. This has traditionally been the biggest way we get word out about our events.

That’s it!
