StarCraft Tournament Registration now open!
The signup page is at http://uwgamers.org/starcraft/
We ran a StarCraft tournament last term, and are going to run one again! If you need more information, or have any questions / comments, please check out the information topic on our forums.
Tournament Types
We’re running both a beginner and advanced tournament. It costs $2 to get into beginner, and $4 to get into advanced. If you’re rank D+ or above on iCCup, you should go into advanced. If you’re D or below, or have no idea what iCCup is, you should probably go into beginner. There are exceptions, but we have to trust the players on this one.
Payment / Prizes
We will be running two booths where you can come by and pay us. One will be on Tuesday February 2nd from 3:30pm to 7:00pm, and the other will be on Monday February 8th from 9:30am until 5:00pm.
If you cannot make it to the booths for any reason, you can pay us via PayPal on the registration page. You must cover the PayPal fees, so we require you to pay slightly more ($2.37 or $4.43) if you pay this way.
Prizes will be percentage based, which means it depends on the number of people who enter. Once the tournament starts, the first emails will give you this information. We are hoping to get enough entrants so that we can have first/second/third place prizes, however if the numbers are low enough we may only have prizes for first place.
Game settings
The tournament will be done Swiss style, where after you lose a certain number of rounds you are out. You will always play someone with the same win/loss record as you. You are guaranteed to be in at least two rounds. Rounds are best two out of three. You’re expected to complete a round within a single match period, which will hopefully be a week long. Last term due to the unexpected high number of registrations the match period was half of a week in order to finish on time.
Tournament start date
Registrations will close at 11:59pm on Monday February 8th. Shortly after that, the first match emails will be sent out, along with any information that is dependent on the number of entrants.
As always, if you want to stay current with the club’s events, you can check out our forums, join our mailing list, or use any other news method we provide along the top of the page (RSS) (Twitter) (Facebook).
