Clubs Day – May 14th and 15th

It’s a brand new term, and the UWGamers are going to be around again! Our first “event” will be on Clubs Day, which takes place on Thursday May 14th and Friday May 15th 10am-3pm in the SLC Great Hall.

Our event list will be up once it is finalized, however you can see the in-progress edition of the events in our planning forum, and you can give input if you do not agree with how we are setting our events for the term.

All of our off-site UWGamers groups are now listed along the top of our homepage. These include our Twitter feed (which is really just a substitute for the RSS feed) and our Facebook group.

As always, if you want to stay current with the club’s events, you can either check out our forums, join our mailing list, or subscribe to the RSS feed for these front page posts

Spring 2009 – Event Dates

The event dates for this term have been set, they are:

  • Tues June 2: Game On (5pm-midnight, Great Hall)
  • Wed June 17: Don’t Study (5pm-midnight, Great Hall)
  • Tues Jul 7: Smash Bros. Tournament (5pm-midnight, Great Hall)
  • Wed Jul 22: Fight On (5pm-midnight, Great Hall)
  • Thurs July 30: Rock Band (time TBA, Great Hall)

If you do not know what these events are, here is a brief summary:

Game On
Many games from different consoles will be brought down to the SLC Great Hall, and there is free-play. There is no set theme, no goal, just to hang out and have some fun. If you’d like to see a game there and you don’t own it, post on our forum and it will probably show up (if it isn’t too obscure, that is).

Don’t Study
Don’t Study is a Portable Systems Party (DS, PSP, what a witty title!). Come to the Great Hall and play games with others. If you play a game that has network capabilities, ask about it on our forums to see if anyone else in the club plays it.

Smash Bros. Tournament
The format still is not decided, but is currently being planned in our forum. Players will compete in a team or singles, and attempt to come out on top. There will be prizes.

Fight On
Our fighting game event, it will feature many of the new releases. There will also be mini-tournaments throughout the night to determine who is the best at a given fighting game.

Rock Band
A battle of the bands, the format is still mostly to be determined, however it will not be only how well you play. It also involves how well you act on stage. This is our final event of the term, and occurs after classes are finished.

As always, if you want to stay current with the club’s events, you can check out our forums, join our mailing list, or use any other news method we provide along the top of the page (RSS) (Twitter) (Facebook).
