Where’s the “any” key?!?

It took a week, but we finally found it! We’re back!

And now, we’ve got a new domain, www.uwgamers.org, so remember to update your bookmarks!

Over the past week, we’ve been very busy! Over clubs days, we had over 150 people sign up for the newsletter! And with that, the first mailing of the term should be going out soon. (Once we get those 150 e-mails typed up… ouch.)

Some important dates coming up:

•      Oct 10th: “Game On”
  General gaming. Come out, play games, try new stuff, try old stuff. 5pm, E2-1303.
•      Oct 23rd: “Super Smash Brothers Melee Tournament – Fall 2006″
  All of you first years have missed out on the awesomeness of our previous tournaments, so here’s a new one! In conjunction with MathSoc, we’re taking over the SLC Great Hall and finding out who the new champ will be!
•      Oct 30…ish “Don’t Study”
  Break out your Nintendo DS! 8 player Mario Kart, 10 player Tetris, here we come!

Super Smash Bros Melee Tournament

Following in the tradition of the past 2 terms, we’re running a Smash Bros Melee tournament again! In the winter term, we had 65 competitors, but only one came out on top! Come out for your chance to win prizes!
What:
      SSBM!
           Rules to be decided and displayed in the forums.
      Prizes!
           1st place: $50 gift certificate to EB
           Prizes for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th as well!
      Bragging rights!

      SLC Great Hall

      Monday, October 23rd
      5:00 pm until 10:00 pm

SSBM Tournament Fall ’06 Results!

Thanks to all that came out, and congrats to the men who beat us all!

The top 4 were:

1) DPF (Justin Carter)
2) GOD? (Shawn DeSouza-Coelho)
3) RUSH (Mark Rushby)
4) DUY (Duy-Khang Nguyen-Huu)

And there was a special achievement prize given to BIGZ (Michael Biggs) for managing to take his Ice Climbers all the way to 5th place, while steadfastly maintaining that he is no good at this game!

Unfortunately, we accidentally gave DPF’s prize to RUSH… so if RUSH could kindly give us back that $50 gift certificate to EB Games… (seriously.)

Anyway, this term we had an excellent setup, and managed to get direct-feed video of over 15 matches on computer! We’ll upload those to YouTube and post here when we do.
