First “meeting” of Fall ’06

Very many thanks to all of you that showed up at our first unofficial meeting today in the SLC. We had a really good turnout and vaguely covered a number of topics. Many of which will be discussed for formally at our next meeting.

To summarize today’s talk:

• - Welcome to all the new people that showed up today. You’re awesome.
• - Mark Jackson-Brown was elected president in a landslide. Positions for Event Coordinator, Secretary, Treasurer, and Vice-president are still open.
• - T-Shirts are on their way! Design suggestions are always welcome on the forums.
• - We’re still looking for suggestions for events (again, the forums are a good place for this)
• - We’re making up a new mailing list, so sign up even if you’re on the old one. You can sign up at any meeting/event and we’ll soon have online sign ups

Our next meeting will be Monday, September 11th at 5:30pm in the SLC. Keep checking the site for more information on where in the SLC we will be and what we will be discussing.

Beginning of Term Meeting

Hello again,

Yesterday, we had another meeting, where we laid down some plans for the term, and got some good suggestions for other events. And here they are:

Planned Events:

• Sept 23 – Dig It on the B2 Green
• Sept 27-28 – Clubs Day
• Oct 2 – as-yet themeless event after clubs day (though Halo 2 has been suggested)
• Oct ?? – Nintendo DS (and Sony PSP) event, “Dont Study”
• Oct 23 – MathSoc Super Smash Bros Melee tournament

Possible Future Events:

• Guitar Hero Tournament
• Halo 2 (though, we might do this on Oct 2)
• GoldenEye 64 (Web Admin Gee desperately wants this
• Play with our Wii (assuming we can get one)
• In Residence Events

Further Ideas:

• LAN Party – A good idea, but one that has backfired on us (twice) before. We will keep it under advisement. (i.e. if a huge groundswell of support appears, we’ll go with it)

Further, the next meeting is on, Sept 25, where we will talk about Clubs Day, and the Oct 2 event.

We will be out there mourning the impending loss of the B2 Green by doing what we do best:

Playing video games on the side of the Math Building!

We’ll bring along a GameCube, an X-Box, and maybe even an N64, so that we can bust out our 4-player gaming needs!

While you’re there, you can also enjoy the many other activities and stuff!
